Festive Chinese Robe
Description: A Dong tribal gown from
Guizhou Province, China. This is a silk thread embroidery depicting dragons
together with pearl, flame, lingxi, scroll and keyfret motifs, on a black cotton
fabric that has been "leathered" (treated with certain coatings and beaten) to
make it water repellant and to give it a shiny surface. The coat is in fine
condition. Age is assumed to be between 40 and sixty years. This Chinese ethnic
minority coat is a great decorative piece but it also makes a fabulous fashion
statement.
