A splendid
apricot ground informal jifu, probably for an heir apparent;
meets all the requirements for an imperial court robe
of the late 18th/early 19th century: nine dragons, twelve
symbols including sun, moon, constellation (enlightenment),
mountain (protection), phoenix and dragon (adaptability
and literary refinement), fu symbol (discrimination),
ax (power to punish), two sacrificial cups (filial piety),
water weed (purity), fire (brilliance), ring of millet
(ability to feed) and a number of Daoist and Buddhist
symbols.
