5080 - Chinese Porcelain Vase With Phoenix

Very finely decorated Chinese bottle-shaped vase with pink, green and black enamels, and grisaille on exterior top rim; with phoenix and large peony on one side and a poem on the reverse.

The vase appears to be an example from China's Republic Period, and specifically from 1917-1937. Mark on base: Made in Jingdezhen, China. According to research, this mark was applied at least up till 1937. This and similar marks were commonly used since the new republic had not adopted a nien-hao in the traditional sense.
