5077 - Japanese Moriage Vase

Japanese moriage vase resting on three feet, together with leaf-shaped handles and decorated in translucent glaze with scroll work and large stylized blossoms. Moriage decoration was achieved with applied and enameled slipwork. Similar pieces were made in response to late 19th century interest in Japonisme. Late Meiji or Taisho period. Very small chip to slipwork at mouth.
