- LARGE ROUND CHINESE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL DISH
The dish
or basin is on a cylindrical foot ring. The center interior
is decorated with four-clawed dragon chasing a flaming
pearl, with a green phoenix swooping down amid clouds,
all on a turquoise ground of cloud swirls and flames;
encircled by a band of scrolling lotus, and a band of
flower/blossom scrolls on broad everted rim. The exterior
is with a central rosette of seven lotus surrounded
by lotus and floral scroll borders.
Dated to
16th/17th century of the Ming period.
Condition:
The piece has some loss to enamels as can be seen on
the detail photos.
Provenance:
Acquired by owner in the early 1960's.

Diameter 17 1/2". Depth 2 1/2".
